London, England

My European Adventure began the way most adventures start, on an aeroplane. The departing time was 11:30pm Perth time and after a quick stopover in Hong Kong, I arrived at 3:00pm in London. The total flying time was 21 hours, a long 21 hours with plenty of that disgusting plane food. There is only so many ways you can eat heated up rubber eggs!
I arrived in London at 3pm and after an easy exit through customs, we ventured to find the much hyped "Tube" rail system. I figured before landing at Heathrow, that taking the 'Tube' would be cheaper and quicker to get to our destination at Russell Square. See http://www.tubeplanner.com/
Being severely jet-lagged and after walking ten minutes we found the train. It was quite packed and hard to find a seat for my luggage. Nevertheless, I managed to squeeze in and the 'Tube' journey began. After an hour on the train I finally reached the destination and with that, I had already had my first experience of London. You see, 4pm is when most people knock of work and they all piled on to the train to get to their respective homes. It was very interesting listening their stories and they were not shy asking, "where I was from?"
When I arrived at Russell Square I had a short walk to the Generator Hostel. I had pre-booked accommodation with my brother for $50AUD each a night. The rooms were nothing flash, but compared to prices of other places it was a real bargain! There was a bar downstairs where i ventured to get a night cap before really beginning the European adventure the next day. Really Long Link
I woke up early and filled with excitement began a brisk 8km walk around London to capture the sights. We turned left out of the hostel and travelled to King Cross Station, past Holburn City through to the Westminster region of the river Thames. We crossed the river to go on the Eye of London, walked past Big Ben and visited Westminster Abbey.

In the afternoon, I went to check out the British Museum. Seriously you could spend weeks in their exploring the “Hall of Enlightenment” or the Greece Parthenon. I was luckily enough to see the Rosetta Stone and touch a replica of it. For a history of the Rosetta stone, www.rosettastone.com/.
