Lucerne: A True Post Card

May 14th 2008 12:01
Today, im posting in reverse order. The Top 10 things to do in Lucerne, SwitzerlandSwitzerland described in a sentence, “clear lakes, snow caped mountains, cheese fondue and chocolate”. Not much more needs to be said. Switzerland is not a land of contrast, but a land of scenic beauty. The culture is unique and the people, despite what some say, are very, very friendly. Most tourists visit Zurich, but I wanted to visit a town a bit smaller, so I decided on Lucerne.

Lucerne is a picture book perfect. It is smallish city at the foot of the Swiss Alps, with a large crystal clear lake. The main part of the city actually surrounds the water. I woke up early in the morning and the day was clear so I ventured outside to find a coffee shop. By the time I walked down the street, I was already taken in by the sights of boutique chocolate and cheese shops

Paris by the Night

May 13th 2008 10:56
Beauty, Love and Lights is what I was told to expect about Paris, and after ten minutes of arriving in the city it was what I came to find out. Beauty and Love was for the iconic sights and Lights was for the glittering Eiffel Tower and the Rubies and Diamonds of the Champs Elysés. By rubies and diamonds, I mean the car lights travelling each way in front of the Arc de Triomphe,

As you can tell, I arrived at night time and after stopping at my hotel, The Holiday Inn, I ventured to the Place de la Concorde to view the amazing lights on offer in Paris. The Place de la Concorde was the largest public square in Paris, where the execution of the French Revolution took place. Despite its grim past, it has an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe

London, England

May 12th 2008 13:10
My European Adventure began the way most adventures start, on an aeroplane. The departing time was 11:30pm Perth time and after a quick stopover in Hong Kong, I arrived at 3:00pm in London. The total flying time was 21 hours, a long 21 hours with plenty of that disgusting plane food. There is only so many ways you can eat heated up rubber eggs!

I arrived in London at 3pm and after an easy exit through customs, we ventured to find the much hyped "Tube" rail system. I figured before landing at Heathrow, that taking the 'Tube' would be cheaper and quicker to get to our destination at Russell Square. See http://www.tubeplanner.com/
